1 — Unbox and inspect
Confirm the package seal and serial sticker are intact. If anything looks tampered with, do not proceed and contact support.
This page shows the recommended, security-first steps to initialize a Trezor hardware wallet, verify device firmware, create and protect your recovery seed, and connect to trusted wallets and apps.
Unbox only what you received from an authorized seller. Do not use used or tampered devices. Have a pen and the included recovery card ready — writing the recovery seed offline is the safest option.

Always verify the firmware signature using Trezor Suite (desktop) or the official verification tool before initializing the device.
Initialize on-device and create a new recovery seed. Write your recovery seed down on the supplied card and store it offline in a secure place.
Use Trezor Suite or audited third-party wallets (e.g., Electrum, Exodus, MetaMask with hardware support) to manage accounts and sign transactions.
Step A — Connect & verify: Connect your device using the provided cable. Open the official Trezor Suite app or the official web start tool. The device screen shows the firmware fingerprint; confirm it matches the app’s verification result.
Step B — Create a PIN: Choose a strong numeric PIN using the device — PIN entry happens on the device for maximum security. Never disclose your PIN.
Step C — Generate your recovery seed: Follow the on-device prompts to generate a 12/24-word recovery seed. Write every word exactly as shown on the provided recovery card and verify carefully. Store the card in a secure, offline location (consider a bank safe or safety deposit box).
Step D — Firmware & backups: Keep firmware up to date by applying official releases only via Trezor Suite. Do not enter your recovery seed into any digital device — it must remain offline to prevent theft.
Use Trezor with trusted, well-reviewed wallets and services. Common integrations include desktop Trezor Suite, Electrum, MetaMask (hardware integration), and a growing list of audited Web3 DApps and NFT marketplaces. Always confirm the site URL and check for HTTPS.
